This decade has seen the beginning and growth of Microplastics (MnPs) research outside the marine environment. MnPs have been found in every mental part of the environment studied, from the upper atmosphere to the depths of the oceans and in thousands of marine species. Recent advances in MnP analysis have made it possible to describe smaller microplastics a little more accurately than a decade ago and even within the size range of Nano plastics in the environment.
Overall, preliminary studies show that MnPs are harmful to ecosystems and species’ health and alter motility, fertility and mortality.
